Westover Selected for Robotics National Competition Again
This is the second year in a row that Westover High School was selected to participate in the FIRST Robotics National Competition, as well as again being awarded grants from NASA and DuPont as sponsors. Local engineers, along with DuPont engineers, will serve as mentors. On January 5, 2009, the WSH Robotics Team will unwrap the kit of parts and begin a six-week journey of building a robot to solve the problem given as this year’s challenge by FIRST Robotics for students all across the nation. Last year as a first time participants, Westover students not only won the coveted “Rookie All Stars” Award in Richmond, Virginia, but also won the Regional Championship at Clemson University as well, defeating the NC School of Math and Science, as well as other highly prestigious schools. Westover is one of 11 schools in North Carolina chosen for this honor, and again, is the only one in this region. Please come join the excitement and awe as the mysterious “Kit of Parts” for 2009 is unveiled!
